The nominees for the 2012 MTV Video Music Awards have been released, and it's time to cast your votes. Along with frontrunners Rihanna and Drake (who were nominated in a whopping five categories each), several other bands and artists received multiple nominations, including Coldplay, Gotye, fun., M.I.A., Skrillex and more.

This year's VMAs will take place on Sept. 6 at 8:00PM ET at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, Calif. Of all the various categories, the highly-esteemed Video of the Year award could be the most hotly contested. Among the nominees are Gotye's 'Somebody That I Used to Know,' M.I.A.'s 'Bad Girls,' Katy Perry's 'Wide Awake,' Rihanna's 'We Found Love' and Drake and Rihanna's 'Take Care' collaboration.

Voting for the VMAs began earlier today (July 31) and will run through Aug. 24. Viewers can place their votes by visiting this website or via their mobile devices. Additionally, votes for Best New Artist can be submitted by texting "BNA" to 22444 or through MTV's official Facebook page. Texting "VMA" to 22444 will put you in the running to win a trip to next year's VMAs.
