Sporting a walking stick, Prince announced the nominees for Record of the Year at the 2013 Grammy Awards. Gotye and guest duet partner Kimbra were up against some tough competition, including the Black Keys’ ‘Lonely Boy’ and fun.’s ‘We Are Young,' but they emerged victorious with their hit collaboration, ‘Somebody That I Used to Know.’

“I love this song,” praised the Purple One. Gotye – otherwise known as Wally De Backer – was appropriately appreciative when he took the stage to accept the award. “So many incredible songs in this category,” he said. “I just wanted to say thank you to everybody who puts their energy into making music.”

“I feel unbelievably blessed to have been a part of this song,” added Kimbra. “And thank you to Prince!”

The tune also earned the pair the honor of Best Pop Duo/Group Performance. Additionally, Gotye won in the category of Best Alternative Album with his 2011 full-length ‘Making Mirrors.’
