Sex sells, but Adele isn't buying. The pregnant British singer has lashed out at pop stars like Madonna, Lady Gaga and Rihanna, who she accuses of relying on sex to sell records. “They don’t look how they do in magazines or videos," Adele tells British tabloid the Daily Star. “I have seen them up close. They don’t even look like that. Exploiting yourself sexually is not a good look. I don’t find it encouraging.”

Adele, who has sold more than 23 million copies of her latest album, '21,' worldwide, would rather find success on her own terms. “I have never seen magazine covers and music videos and thought: ‘I need to look like that to be a success,'" she adds. “To sell more records I don’t even need to do that. I just stand there and sing."

Rumor has it that the full-figured singer recently asked luxury brand Burberry to collaborate on a line for plus-sized customers, which fits this bit of wisdom she offers up quite nicely: "No matter what you look like, the key is to be happy with yourself.”

That's good advice for everybody, from Madonna to Gaga's gaggle of Little Monsters the world over.
