Alabama Shakes frontwoman Brittany Howard and Jack White backing singer Ruby Amanfu have teamed up to record two songs to be released as a 7-inch vinyl single on White's Third Man Records. Side A features a cover of 'I Wonder,' a tune originally performed by Sixto Rodriguez, the subject of the Oscar-winning documentary 'Searching For Sugar Man,' while the B-side is an acoustic version of 'When My Man Comes Home,' originally recorded by blues guitarist Memphis Minnie.

Howard is, of course, known for her work with the Grammy-nominated outfit Alabama Shakers. Amanfu, a member of White's all-female backing band, the Peacocks, turned heads with her stellar vocal duet on Jack's 'Blunderbuss' track 'Love Interruption.'

Howard and Amanfu are backed on the recordings by Dominic Davis (a member of White's all-male backing band, the Buzzards) on electric and upright bass, Fats Kaplin on electric guitar and mandolin, Cory Younts on piano, Ikey Owens on keys and Hammond B3 and Daru Jones on drums.

The single is due out March 12 (pre-orer it here), but you can preview the smooth and soulful 'When My Man Comes Home' in its entirety via Soundcloud here or by clicking the button below. The song's composer Memphis Minnie is best known for penning the 1929 tune 'When The Levee Breaks,' which was later made famous thanks to a cover by Led Zeppelin.
