With their slim-cut suits and teardrop-shaped guitars, the Allah-Las look as if they just time-warped in from 1968. We're glad they made the trip. 'Tell Me (What's On Your Mind)' ticks all the right boxes -- Byrds jangle, Dylan angst, druggy Stones menace -- and stands up to the choicest cuts from the original psychedelic era.

In the accompanying video, the L.A foursome draws heavily on '60s SoCal mythology, interspersing home-movie-style tour footage with sepia-toned shots of waves crashing and girls diving into swimming pools. Taken as a whole, it's a slightly unsettling audio-visual postcard from another era, laced with acid and signed with love from your new favorite band. Look for their self-titled debut on Sept. 18.
