American Express strives to “make shopping small huge” in its new commercial for Small Business Saturday, the “holiday” that falls between Black Friday and Cyber Monday. The ad features ‘Hard Worker’ by indie-folk greats the Avett Brothers.

The tune appears on their 20-track disc ‘Mignonette,’ which dropped back in 2004 via Ramseur Records. In a review, Country Standard Time called the album “a pleasure and a refreshing spin on traditional-based music,” and also wrote that it showcased “the band's gift for emotionally honest songs that are often humorous and touching at the same time.”

You may have heard other catchy songs by the Avett Bros. in a number of previous TV spots, including episodes of ‘Friday Night Lights,’ ‘Parenthood,’ ‘Men at Work,’ ‘One Tree Hill’ and ‘World of Jenks,’ as well as the 2012 film, ‘This Is 40.’ They also appeared in a Gap commercial last year, which some considered a sell-out move, but brothers Seth and Scott were quick to brush off the criticism.

Fans hoping to catch a live show by the Avett Brothers this summer are in luck — they have a string of tour dates lined up, including appearances at Mountain Jam, Governors Ball, Firefly Festival, Summerfest, Kanrocksas, Forecastle Festival and Newport Folk Festival. Visit their official site for the complete itinerary.
