On July 24, Amy Helm will celebrate the release of her debut album as a solo artist, Didn't It Rain, via eOne. That's not to say, however, that Helm is new to music; as the daughter of the late Levon Helm, there's no doubt that music is an integral and foundational part of her life and emotional fabric.

At this year's installment of Mountain Jam at Hunter Mountain, N.Y., we had the opportunity to catch up with Helm about Didn't It Rain, and why it's taken this long for her to release her debut solo LP. Check out our exclusive interview in the video above.

We also chatted about Levon, and she shared just a few of the many things that she learned from growing up with him and playing with him. "My father was humble and focused and really, absolutely, it was about the music for him," she tells us. "He was kind of a working man's musician. He said if you're not having fun, you're doing something wrong."

If her set at Mountain Jam 2015 serves as any indication, Amy is doing everything right because she's absolutely having fun -- and we can't wait to get our hands on Didn't It Rain. You can grab more details on the record here.
