From British soul singers and American garage rockers to quirky Australian popsters, a wide range of musicians struck gold in 2012. Who deserves Artist of the Year honors in our first-ever Music Awards? Let your voice by heard by voting below.

No one kicked off 2012 on a bigger note than Adele, who took home six trophies -- including Album of the Year -- at the Grammy Awards in February. The U.K. songstress then joined the ranks of Paul McCartney, Madonna and Duran Duran by releasing her own James Bond theme, 'Skyfall,' and she also celebrated the birth of her first child. No wonder she's an Artist of the Year candidate.

The Black Keys' 'El Camino' album spawned two more massive alt-rock hits in 2012, and the group mounted their first-ever headlining arena tour. Dave Matthews Band re-teamed with producer Steve Lillywhite for the chart-topping 'Away From the World,' a disc they supported with a couple of "Dave-sized" North American treks.

Foo Fighters snagged five Grammy trophies this year -- including Best Rock Album -- thanks to last year's 'Wasting Light.' Dave Grohl and co. also mounted an extensive world tour. Gotye's 'Making Mirrors' album also dropped last year, but it wasn't until 2012 that its ubiquitous smash single 'Somebody That I Used to Know' topped charts virtually worldwide.

Green Day were slowed down by Billie Joe Armstrong's rehab stint, but they still managed to issue two records ('¡Uno!' and '¡Dos!') from their planned trilogy. Mumford and Sons' sophomore set, 'Babel,' had the biggest opening of any 2012 album in the U.S., moving 600,000 in its first week, and they hit the stage of 'Saturday Night Live' to support it. Fellow Brits Muse unleashed 'The 2nd Law,' which peaked at No. 2 on the Billboard 200. Odd Future-affiliated R&B crooner Frank Ocean issued the stellar 'Channel Orange.' And White Stripes/Raconteurs/Dead Weather rocker Jack White finally went solo with 'Blunderbuss,' which he supported with a lengthy world tour.
