New York City’s LivingSocial-sponsored Backyard Festival has been canceled, a source reports. The event — set to take place at Randall’s Island Park on July 13 and feature Aerosmith and Joan Jett, among others — was called off by festival organizers, who cited “unsuitable” post-storm conditions.

"Due to record-breaking rainfall in early June the site has been deemed unsuitable for events," wrote LivingSocial spokesperson Sara Parker in an e-mail. "The New York City Parks Department has informed LivingSocial that necessary repairs to the park will not be completed before July 13, 2013. The event on this date is canceled, however if there is any possibility to reschedule the festival LivingSocial will let customers know."

"LivingSocial and the participating partners are all disappointed,” she added. “LivingSocial is committed to providing full refunds for all customers who have purchased tickets."

The highly anticipated Governors Ball festival, which came to Randall’s Island earlier this month, also suffered cancellations because of the devastating Tropical Storm Andrea. On June 7, Feist’s performance was cut short due to aggressive wind and rainfall and Kings of Leon’s set was rescheduled. Click here to check out Diffuser.fm’s recap of the fest.
