Bass Drum of Death's self-titled new album features another form of low-end sound source -- bass guitar, that is -- for the very first time. "I don't ever wanna feel stuck, like, 'I can't put bass on this because I didn't do that before,'" BDoD mastermind John Barrett, who left four-stringed instrumentation off his 2011 debut, 'GB City,' says in a press release for the new disc.

The choice was a good one, as the deep tones help fill out the sonic palette of 'Shattered Me,' the new one's first single. But how will that translate when they perform live? To find out, check out Bass Drum of Death on tour with Black Rebel Motorcycle Club this spring.
