English songstress Bat for Lashes just released a new track called 'Skin Song,' which you can listen to below via Soundcloud. The song will be part of a larger musical project called 'Body of Songs.' It's an unusual concept, wherein a number of different artists write songs about different parts of the body.

The project is the brainchild of Professor Hugh Montgomery, the director of the University College London Institute for Human Health and Performance. He recorded an appeal to artists to participate in the project, in which offered artists the chance to interact with organs, be they living or inside a jar of formaldehyde, and some other rare experiences, such as witnessing an organ transplant.

He said to the artists, "I think there's no doubt that that exposure will change you."

Bat for Lashes' contribution is, in case you didn't put it together yet, about skin. The song is a hypnotic tune with a sparse rhythm track and thick, droning guitars.

There are a couple of other songs available to listen to on Soundcloud. Some of the other artists connected to the project are Ghostpoet and Goldie. The whole album is set to be released in 2015. Here's a trailer for the whole project, which includes some more music from the upcoming record.
