Ben Folds Five Announce 2012 Album Release, Tour Dates

After a twelve-year break, Ben Folds Five are back with news of a brand-new studio album. The recently-reunited trio plan on releasing ‘The Sound of the Life of the Mind’ this fall.

The band’s forthcoming record is scheduled to arrive in stores across the globe on Sept. 18 via ImaVeePee Records/Sony Music Entertainment. The new album was funded by a crowdsourcing campaign backed by PledgeMusic, a design that allows fans to contribute to the creation of new music. Those who took part in the campaign will be honored by receiving the new album prior to its official release date. Some proceeds from record sales will go toward the charity of Music Education and Music Therapy.

Ben Folds Five, who recently made an appearance at Summerfest in Milwaukee, Wisc., have also announced a worldwide tour in support of ‘The Sound of the Life of the Mind.’ The tour will run through several U.S. cities before heading to Australia, Ireland and the U.K. Check out the band’s official website for more details.
