Ben Harper Playing Obama Fundraiser

We have some good news for Bay Area Ben Harper fans: He’s headed to Redwood City, Calif. for a performance at the Fox Theatre tomorrow night (May 23). Now for the bad news: Tickets for the show, which is being held as part of an epic triple-fundraiser day for President Obama, start at $250.

But Harper fans who don’t necessarily have that kind of money to spend can at least count themselves lucky that they aren’t among the anointed few who will be shelling out $35,800 a ticket to see Crosby, Stills and Nash perform at a private fundraising dinner earlier in the day. Seen from that perspective, the Harper tickets seem like a steal, no?

If you’re forced to miss out on Harper’s Wednesday night appearance, not to worry — he’s going to be on the road all year, starting with the Rock Coast Festival in Spain on May 26 and continuing through his October 10 gig at Carnegie Hall in New York. He’s out promoting his most recent release, last year’s ‘Give Till It’s Gone,’ a Top 15 hit on the Billboard album charts. Take a look at Harper’s 2012 tour itinerary below.
