You'd think with our collective attention span seemingly at an all-time low that we wouldn't have patience for entire albums anymore. Using math: That's anywhere from eight to 14 songs, and up to about 65 minutes of your life spent listening to the same artist. And who can even remember what they were doing 65 entire minutes ago?

But albums are still the industry standard for musical work despite the fact that we live in an increasingly singles-driven culture. After all, pretty much anyone can get lucky and stumble on one hit, but a good album needs to act like a good movie -- with sonic peaks and valleys that might work just fine on their own, but become truly great in the context of a bigger idea.

In that spirit, we at Diffuser have assembled our list of what we believe to be the 10 best albums of 2014. While they're disparate from each other, they do have one thing in common: They're all well worth 40 to 65 continuous minutes of your life.

Check out our list in the gallery above, and then tell us your favorite albums in the comments section below.
