Following in the steps of Thom Yorke and Manchester Orchestra -- both bands recently dropped unexpected albums on their fans -- Birds of Tokyo have just unveiled plans for the U.S. release of their fourth LP, ‘March Fires,’ set to hit store shelves in just a few days on Sept. 30.

‘March Fires’ finds the band teaming with Los Angeles-based producer Dave Cooley, who has worked with Silversun Pickups and Darker My Love in the past.

“We really made a conscious choice to just put a match to everything we’d done before so that we could create something that felt fresh and exciting for us,” guitarist Adam Spark said in a recent statement. “Hopefully people who like the band will feel the same way when they hear it.”

Released in 2013 in Australia, ‘March Fires’ debuted at No. 1 on the country’s ARIA Album Chart and became gold-certified in just four weeks. To celebrate the U.S. release of the record, Birds of Tokyo have also announced a fall tour with Kodaline:
