Earlier this year, Bloc Party frontman Kele Okereke announced that the band had concluded their roughly two-year hiatus and were recording a follow-up to 2012’s Four. At the time, Okereke also previewed a new song dubbed “Exes.” This week, during a concert in Pomona, Calif., the English rockers performed that song, plus another new one reportedly titled “Edon.” You can watch the performances in the fan-shot footage below (via Consequence of Sound).

During his conversation with Australian radio station Triple J back in March, Okereke said, “We’ve started recording. I think we have about 18 [song] ideas and we’re gong to lay them down properly in the next few months.”

Likewise, he revealed the new material sounds quite a bit different than Bloc Party’s past work. “It’s sounding like nothing that we’ve done before,” he said.

While it’s been three years since Bloc Party’s fourth album, Okereke dropped his second solo effort, Trick, last year. That album followed his debut as a solo artist, 2010’s The Boxer.
