Our first proper introduction to Bloc Party’s upcoming album HYMNS was the joyous “The Love Within,” which warranted a fittingly exuberant music video replete with dancing. Now the English indie-rockers have mellowed with the newly unveiled “The Good News.”

Frontman Kele Okereke says their latest HYMNS track is “about heartbreak and looking for strength to carry on.” Where “The Love Within” embraced synths, “The Good News” opts for a darker, bluesy underbelly, a haunting choral refrain and a fair share of religious skepticism. Take a listen in the video at the top of the page.

HYMNS is due out Jan. 29 via Infectious Music/BMG/Vagrant. It follows 2012’s Four and the band’s subsequent hiatus. During the intervening years, Okereke dropped his second solo effort, last year’s Trick.

Bloc Party have mapped out tour dates in the U.K. and Australia, which will kick off tomorrow (Dec. 3) at Manchester’s Albert Hall and run through February. They have yet to announce plans for a North American tour. Stay up to date at the band’s website.
