Even groups as accomplished as Blur have to contend with the double-edged sword of having a massively popular song in their repertoire. In an interview published today (July 21), the band asserted that they believe they wouldn't get booked to play at festivals unless they performed "Song 2," the huge hit from their self-titled 1997 album. Listen to the full interview below, via XFM.

Blur drummer Dave Rowntree said:

It's difficult. It's an hour and a half set, and there's about an hour's worth of music that you absolutely have to play or we'd get bottled off. You know, if we didn't play "Song 2," we'd never get invited to a festival again.

He also joked that the band's sets are decided by their drum technician, saying, "These days we delegate the job to Stuart, my drum tech. He comes up with the basic setlist and then we argue about it from there."

Blur are currently on tour, so check out their complete schedule at their website.
