Yesterday (March 4), Durham, N.C.-based Bombadil shared a big announcement with their fans in a Facebook post: Keyboardist Stuart Robinson is parting ways with the band.

The news arrives only weeks before the folk-pop outfit is set to release their fifth album, Hold On, on which Robinson contributed. Now, Bombadil’s Daniel Michalak and James Phillips say Robinson won’t join them for the album’s release show at the Cat’s Cradle in Carrboro, N.C., or presumably for the rest of their recently announced tour. However, Michalak and Phillips assured fans that Bombadil would remain in tact and would continue “writing, recording, and performing just as often as before.” Read their complete message below:

It is with a heavy heart that we announce that Stuart will no longer be performing with Bombadil. As with us all, he has a myriad of interests and dreams he wishes to pursue. We wish him the best in his new endeavors. We're very proud of the record that the three of us made together and are excited to share it with you. Unfortunately, this means that Stuart will not be performing at our album release show at the Cat's Cradle. Nevertheless, we are planning a special show for that evening with new and old friends joining us on stage. Moving forward, we will continue as Bombadil: writing, recording, and performing just as often as before. We thank all of you for supporting us over the years and look forward to the next decade of sharing our music with you.

Daniel and James

Hold On is due out on March 24, following the band’s fourth album, 2013’s Metrics of Affection.
