Bradford Cox has joined the cast of 'The Dallas Buyers Club,' appearing as the lover of actor/30 Seconds to Mars frontman Jared Leto's cross-dressing gay character in the forthcoming big screen flick. The Deerhunter and Atlas Sound frontman's involvement was revealed in a Hollywood Reporter article that also announced Griffin Dunne (Showtime’s 'House of Lies') and Denis O’Hare (HBO’s 'True Blood') would be appearing in the film.

Directed by Jean-Marc Vallee, 'The Dallas Buyers Club' is based on the true story of Ron Woodroof (Matthew McConaughey), a homophobic Texas electrician who contracted HIV in the '80s from sharing needles. Told by his doctor (Hilary Swank) that he has six months to live, he instead begins exploring experimental medicine treatments -- much to the chagrin of the Federal Drug Administration. The movie, which also stars Jennifer Garner, is currently shooting in New Orleans.

McConaughey reportedly lost 30 pounds for the role, leaving him "looking haggard and shockingly thin," and Leto shed a ton of weight after bulking up to play Mark David Chapman in 'Chapter 27.' But Cox, who has openly discussed having the genetic disorder Marfan syndrome, is unusually tall with long, thin fingers, likely giving him a frame suited for the role.
