Counting influences such as Gogol Bordello, the Clash and French band Mano Negra, it’s no surprise Butcher Knives’ sound is so wildly eclectic. The New York City-based septet calls their sonic brew “gypsybilly” and we have no problem with that tag.

Butcher Knives will be issuing ‘Misery,’ their debut album, in early 2014. Diffuser.fm has teamed up with the band to bring you the exclusive video premiere of ‘Tell Me Why,’ the first single from the upcoming album.

"'Tell Me Why' is a universal commentary on love and betrayal, conveyed through a fierce and ruthless torrent of punk and world music,” says Butcher Knives’ Colombian vocalist/guitarist Nikko Matiz about the song’s lyrics. Using NYC as a background, the clip evokes the feeling of classic films like ‘The French Connection’ and ‘Death Wish.’ Nacho Segura, the band’s frontman, directed, shot, and edited the video with some cinematography assistance from Mateo Arciniegas Huertas (Nacho’s brother), Edwin Chan and the band's bassist, Yoni Benshlomo.
