Death Cab For Cutie, the Ramones, Jeff the Brotherhood and Big Star are among the highlights of this year's Cassette Store Day offerings in North America. This fourth annual tape alternative to Record Store Day is set for Oct. 8 at shops and venues in the U.S. and across Europe.

Look for new cassette versions of the Ramones' legendary 1976 self-titled debut, Jeff the Brotherhood's well-respected 2015 return-to-indie project Global Chakra Rhythms, and Death Cab for Cutie's 2001 The Photo Album. Others set for reissue include Big Star's #1 Record, Radio City and 3rd; and Xiu Xiu Plays the Music of Twin Peaks.

Burger Says Sire: A Sire Records Compilation will also feature the Ramones, along with Richard Hell, the Flamin' Groovies and others. Say Yes!: A Tribute to Elliott Smith includes J Mascis and Juliana Hatfield. Matthew Sweet and Frank Black of the Pixies appear on High School Reunion: A Tribute To Those Great 80’s Films.

Cassette Store Day started in 2013 with early sponsorship from labels including Kissability, Suplex and Sexbeat. More than 100 titles were released exclusively last year.

“Every year around spring the emails and questions begin: Will there be another Cassette Store Day? When will it happen? Can I put out a tape?" founder Jen Long told DIY. "For a supposedly dying format, there’s still so much love and life for those little bits of plastic.”

Artists with exclusive U.K. releases for Cassette Store Day include the Pixies and Courtney Barnett, among others.
