Cat Power Leaving America? Instagram Rant Raises Questions

Cat Power went nuclear on Instagram yesterday (May 20), posting a photo of the Statue of Liberty with a long, rambling piece of caps-locked text, ranting and raving about the many reasons she is distrustful of the government.

The singer -- Chan Marshall on her birth certificate -- rants about the American political establishment and suggests that it adopts a three-party system, adding a third "new independent" party. She then hints that she may leave the country behind.

Actually, it's not a hint. She declares, "I have to leave, America." No word yet on whether she was speaking metaphorically.

Her full, hard-to-read text -- due to the all-caps nature of the missive -- is below and here. It might take a few reads to fully digest what she's going postal about, but it's certainly worth your time, since she makes her points with passion.
