You don’t have to be a Black Sabbath fan to know the pioneering metal band’s 1972 tune ‘Changes.’ Eminem sampled the mournful ballad for his 2010 song ‘Going Through Changes,’ and last month, soul extraordinaire Charles Bradley teamed with the Budos Band to release a version for Record Store Day Black Friday.

Bradley’s rendition is now streaming online — check it out below — and if there was any doubt the so-called Screaming Eagle of Soul could take any song from any genre and make it his own, consider that doubt obliterated.

Thematically speaking, ‘Changes’ might make sense to play on New Year’s Eve, when Bradley takes the stage in Pittsburgh. After helping Pennsylvanians start 2014 off right, he’ll play a string of East Coast shows and then head to Australia and New Zealand. Click here for a list of dates.
