If you’ve been following the news on the next ‘Star Wars’ movie, ‘Episode Seven,’ you may already know that it’s actually shooting right now, and that most of the cast has been finalized. You may also know that the original trio of Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher and Harrison Ford are all returning as well.

Well, now there’s officially another original cast member who’s coming aboard: Peter Mayhew, the OG wookiee Chewbacca. Funny enough, there was recently a ‘Star Wars’ casting call looking for a tall actor, and many speculated it was for Chewbacca. But now the original 7’2" British actor who played him in the original trilogy is indeed back, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

While we weren’t aware of any rumors going on about this, and there’s been ‘Star Wars’ rumors practically every 10 minutes, apparently Mayhew had to cancel a planned appearance at Comicpalooza “due to filming,” which stirred speculation before the official news hit today.

It will certainly be interesting to see the old ‘Star Wars’ gang along with a new cast of Jedi hopefuls, because ‘Star Wars’ is indeed generational -- so the next movie will clearly show this span of time. It may also be a little weird to see the original ‘Star Wars’ cast today, much older than we remembered them. But what the hell -- we hope J.J. Abrams will be able to pull this one off when the next ‘Star Wars’ hits theaters on Dec. 18, 2015.
