The kinship between Coldplay and rapper Jay-Z is no secret in the rock world, and the two titans from different genres will come together to perform (again!) on New Year's Eve at the newly opened Barclays Center in Brooklyn. Forget the jam-packed ball drop in touristy Times Square, people! Brooklyn is where it's at on NYE!

The NYE show will be a co-headline performance, and the actual date is Monday, Dec. 31. Coldplay will "warm up" for that gig with a show at the same venue on Dec. 30, but Jay-Z won't appear on that bill. Coldplay will also hit Mohegan Sun in Uncasville, Conn., on Dec. 29. So a Coldplay trifecta is set for the last three days of 2012.

Coldplay and Jay-Z have celebrated the new year together previously. The band shared a bill with him in Las Vegas in 2010. It's starting to become a bit of a New Year's tradition. Chris Martin's wife, Gwyneth Paltrow, and their kids Apple and Moses can ring in 2013 with Jay's wife Beyonce and Blue Ivy. Streamers! Horns! Confetti! Rock and rap! Sounds like a party.
