Bright Eyes singer Conor Oberst claims in a lawsuit that a false allegation of rape cost him a $200,000 record deal and hurt his reputation.

Oberst filed a lawsuit back in February against his accuser, who made the allegation in anonymous comments on the website XOJane. She later removed the comment and failed to appear in court, so Oberst thinks the judge should rule in his favor.

TMZ reported that Oberst filed new court documents making the claim that the allegations were the main reason for him losing a major record deal, as well as causing a drop in current record sales. The lawsuit in question is for $1.2 million, which Oberst says he will donate to charity if he wins.

A press statement from the Oberst camp said, "Oberst is seeking to promote the truth and repair the distress this has brought upon him and his family. Oberst intends to donate the proceeds of this suit to charities benefitting the victims of violence against women."
