Courtney Love and her daughter Frances Bean Cobain have had their share of ups and downs over the years, but they can always agree on one thing: maintaining a last vestige of privacy around the life and death of Cobain's father and Love's ex-husband, deceased Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain. Now, the duo have united again to block the release of further photos from his death scene.

The Blast reports that there's a new round brewing in the long-running court battle between the Cobain estate and Richard Lee, described as "a conspiracy theorist" who's well-known for his efforts to prove that Kurt Cobain's death was not a suicide. It's just the latest in a series of legal skirmishes Lee's been embroiled in regarding the release of photos from Cobain's death; as Nirvana fans may recall, he previously made headlines four years ago when he sued the Seattle Police Department to have them made available to the public. A series of snapshots from the death scene were released that year, along with a note written by Cobain, but Lee lost his lawsuit, filing an appeal in 2016.

It's that appeal that's drawn the legal battle back into the spotlight. It obviously remains to be seen whether Lee's latest efforts will amount to anything, but Love and Frances Bean Cobain have made it thoroughly clear that the family wants to keep the pictures private. According to The Blast's report, they've responded with a court filing arguing that granting Lee's demands for the release of the photos "would not only exacerbate the posttraumatic stress Frances Bean Cobain has suffered since childhood but physically endanger her and her mother by encouraging more disturbed stalkers and fanatical threats."
