It's a bummer Thee Oh Sees are taking that "well deserved break and transitional period" they announced last month, but band leader John Dwyer is no slacker. He's back under the solo guise Damaged Bug, and earlier today, he debuted 'Eggs at Night,' a tasty tune from his forthcoming 'Hubba Bubba' album.

Unlike the mangy garage rock for which Dwyer is known, 'Eggs at Night' has a spooky homemade New Wave feel.

As per a press release, Dwyer made the album with "synthesizers, drum machines, and assorted hand-made electronics," and that sounds about right. If Flock of Seagulls had started out sans hairspray in a suburban American basement, they might have come up with something like this. It's great, in other words, and word is Dwyer has cooked up 11 more tracks just like it.

'Hubba Bubba' drops Feb. 25 via Castle Face.
