None of us are shouting, "Whoo-hoo!" at the news out of England that suggests that Blur will be broken up for good following their next concert. Frontman Damon Albarn recently said that he doesn't see the band continuing beyond the August 12 show in London's Hyde Park to commemorate the end of the 2012 Olympics.

"I don’t really do anything with Blur anymore," Albarn told NME. "There’s this concert this year but its not a full time thing at all." Albarn wrote a song called 'Under the Westway' for Blur's benefit show for War Child in February, which he believes will probably be the last piece of music he writes for his band.

"Maybe this tune's a last little coda to the whole story," he said.

Albarn, who turned 44 yesterday (March 23), is busy working on the recorded version of his opera 'Dr. Dee' and he has plenty of other projects, such as Gorillaz, that he can always go back to. More than 20 years after Blur's debut, Albarn remains in high demand as a collaborator. He even came very close once to a tantalizing project with two members of British rock royalty.

"I do genuinely like working with people but at the same time I don’t expect it to work," he said. "I mean, for about 24 hours, many years ago, I was making a record with David Bowie and Ray Davies. But that only lasted 24 hours."
