Earlier this month, during a Foo Fighters concert in Calgary, Dave Grohl called out all the bands that only play two-hour sets (or, god forbid, only an hour and a half).

As Grohl noted in a speech preceding the Foo Fighters’ “Big Me,” the band’s concerts, which often verge on three hours in length, are barely enough to contain their 20-year catalog:

You don’t want one of those little hour and a half long shows do you? You don’t want that s---. All of those new bands that play those little two-hour concerts, you don’t want that s---. Two hours and 15, I don’t think is enough. Two and a half hours, does that sound okay? That’s not enough is it? Here’s our f---ing problem. We’ve been a band for 20 f---ing years, we have a lot of f---ing songs, and then add my big mouth on top of that, and we’re going to be here all night. We’re only going to play 10 f---ing songs; I’m gonna talk the rest of the time.

Afterward, Grohl launched into the story behind his throne, which has accompanied him throughout the duration of the Foo Fighters’ tour as the frontman’s leg heals. (He made sure to show a couple of replays capturing the moment when he fell off the stage and broke his leg in Sweden, too.) Watch Grohl’s entire speech at the top of the page.

The Foo Fighters’ tour continues tonight (Aug. 25) in Pittsburgh. Check out a complete list of their upcoming stops right here.
