Foo Fighters leader and former Nirvana member Dave Grohl can be heard playing drums on a 1985 track by his early-era band Mission Impossible.

The song, titled “Now I’m Alone,” appeared in the soundtrack to documentary movie Salad Days: A Decade of Punk in Washington, D.C., which was released in 2014. In response to continued demand, director Scott Crawford has prepared a soundtrack album, which is released on Dec. 10 and available for pre-order now.

You can listen to “Now I’m Alone” below:

“Mission Impossible were a phenomenal, albeit short-lived, live band,” Crawford told Rolling Stone. “I went to several of their practices in Virginia and just sat back and watch them go nuts. They were all superb musicians and watching Dave behind the drum kit was always a thrill.”

Discussing the similarities in the sound of all his bands, Grohl said in 1995, “The thing that these people don't fucking realize is that this type of music has been around for years. … They don't understand that when I was 15 and had (Husker Du's) Zen Arcade, that's when I decided that I loved this music. For me to do anything else for the sole reason of doing something different would be so contrived. For me to put out a free-form jazz record to be as far away as possible from Nirvana would just be ridiculous.”

Last month Grohl said he was "ready to take a break" after the Foo Fighters completed a world tour in support of ninth album Concrete and Gold. It's not set to be a long break, however, since the band have one date booked in January, two in February then a run of European festival appearances in June and August. You can see their current schedule on their website.
