Dave Grohl has been confirmed as the keynote speaker at next year's South by Southwest Music and Media Conference and Festival (SXSW). The festival made the announcement earlier today (Nov. 16) via press release.

Grohl's speech will take place at the Austin Convention Center on Thursday, March 14, 2013. The convention center is considered to be the hub of SXSW, with panels, the Trade Show, Music Gear Expo and other events taking place within its walls. More than 2,000 acts, ranging from superstars such as Grohl to bands that have only recently formed, will perform on more than 100 stages at SXSW between March 12 and March 17, 2013.

Last year's keynote was given by Bruce Springsteen, who spoke passionately about his musical roots and gave advice to the many musicians who converged on Texas' capital for the conference in search of the break that will launch them to stardom.

“Don’t take yourself too seriously," he told the audience. "And take yourself as seriously as death itself. Don’t worry. Worry your ass off…When you walk onstage tonight, treat it like it’s all we have. And remember, it’s only rock and roll!”

Speech writing is yet another task to occupy Grohl's time while Foo Fighters are on hiatus. Two weeks ago it was revealed that he had re-joined Queens of the Stone Age. He had previously been in the band in 2002.
