Dave Grohl Is Getting His Own TV Show

Thanks to the success of his 2013 documentary ‘Sound City,’ Dave Grohl is getting his own TV show based on a similar concept.

According to Classic Rock magazine, the Foo Fighters frontman will star in an HBO program in which he visits and records music at some of the world’s most famous studios.

The hit documentary featured Grohl returning to the Sound City studio in Van Nuys, Calif., where Nirvana recorded their breakthrough album ‘Nevermind.’ Over the years, everyone from Fleetwood Mac and Tom Petty to Neil Young and Red Hot Chili Peppers made albums at the studio, which closed in 2011.

Many of the artists who recorded there showed up in Grohl’s movie, which featured new performances by ad hoc bands including musicians like Stevie Nicks and Trent Reznor.

Apparently Grohl’s unnamed TV show will follow a similar premise, including interviews with some of the people who make music at the spotlighted studios.

According to Classic Rock, some of the studios that will show up in the series include Steve Albini’s Electrical Audio studio in Chicago, Inner Ear studios in Washington, D.C. and Rancho De La Luna studios in California. Studios in New York, Seattle and Nashville will also be featured. Kiss‘ Paul Stanley, Heart‘s Nancy Wilson, Joe Walsh and Fugazi’s Ian MacKaye have been interviewed.

While no date has been set for the show, it’s scheduled to premiere on HBO sometime next winter.
