David Byrne and St. Vincent Play ‘Letterman,’ Perform ‘I Should Watch TV’

It’s been more than four months since the David Byrne/St. Vincent love child known as ‘Love This Giant’ arrived, and the pair is still going strong. The Talking Heads frontman and the artist also known as Annie Clark just wrapped up a quick tour across Australia, and last night (Jan. 28) they took their backing brass section (along with a drummer and keyboardist) to the stage of the ‘Late Show With David Letterman’ to perform their ‘Giant’ tune ‘I Should Watch TV.’

The inherent weirdness of the song choice wasn’t lost on Byrne – ”The meaning and significance of doing that song on TV is making my head go funny,” he wrote in a newsletter — and the ‘Love This Giant’ cut went over well on the boob tube. There’s no doubt about it, folks: that sousaphone phone player can really jam!
