David Lynch is working on a combination memoir-biography.

The acclaimed director and musician’s Life and Work is expected sometime in 2017 via U.K. publisher Canongate. The forthcoming book is segmented into both memoir and biography. Lynch writes the memoir sections, diving into his relationships and artistic endeavors. Journalist Kristine McKenna will contribute the biography portion, incorporating interviews with Lynch’s friends, family and collaborators.

“There’s a lot of bulls--- out there about me, in books and all over the internet,” Lynch said in a statement. “I want to get all the right information in one place, so if someone wants to know something, they can find it here. And I wouldn’t do it with anyone other than Kristine; she and I go way back, and she gets it right.”

“His approach to this book is as unique as I would have hoped it to be,” Bryan Greenberg, executive editor at Grand Central Publishing, added in his own statement, “and I am fascinated to see where it goes.”

Lynch released his most recent album, The Big Dream, in 2013. Currently, he’s working on a new season of cult favorite Twin Peaks, which will air on Showtime more than 20 years after the show’s second and final season and the 1992 feature-length film Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me.
