Last year, Dead Stars dropped their debut effort, Slumber, which introduced listeners to the band's infectious brand of fuzzy, ‘90s-inspired indie-rock. Now, the Brooklyn-based three-piece -- which consists of singer-guitarist Jeff Moore, bassist John Watterberg and drummer Jaye Moore -- have unveiled a brand-new track, “Calm Punk.” Take a listen below (via Noisey):

“Calm Punk” maintains all of the Dinosaur Jr. comparisons Dead Stars received following Slumber’s arrival -- something the trio opened up about when speaking with Diffuser last summer.

“We love [Dinosaur Jr.],” Moore said. “I don’t think we set out to get compared to them, but one thing I always liked about Dinosaur Jr. is that they’re loud and fuzzy, but they also write great songs and that’s what we strive to do. We try to write really good songs and play really loud.”

The new song is certainly an exciting sign of things to come from Dead Stars, but we’ll just have to continue waiting for more details regarding their sophomore follow-up, which is yet to receive a title or release date. In the meantime, you’ll be able to purchase “Calm Punk” this Tuesday (June 2) on iTunes and Dead Stars’ Bandcamp.

Dead Stars have a string of tour dates on the books in June and July in New York City, including a release show for “Calm Punk” in Brooklyn on June 4.
