Another early spring day, another festival announced. Today (April 3) it was Des Moines, Iowa's turn to get in on all the fun, as the Greater Des Moines Music Coalition announced that Death Cab for Cutie and the Avett Brothers will headline the fifth annual 80/35 Festival. The festival will take place on July 6 and 7 at Western Gateway Park in downtown Des Moines.

Other bands announced today were alternative stalwarts Dinosaur, Jr., electronic musician Dan Deacon and hardocre punkers F----- Up. The next batch of bands will be announced in early May. In total, the festival will feature nearly 40 bands, including local acts. In past years 80/35 has featured such acts as the Flaming Lips, Jakob Dylan and Spoon.

The 80/35 festival, which takes its name from the two interstate highways that meet at the city's northeast corner, attracts over 30,000 people annually to Western Gateway Park in Iowa's capital city. There will also be interactive art activities, DIY booths, meet & greet tents and activities for kids.

Advance tickets are available for $29 (one-day) and $49 (two-day), with children under 11 admitted free when accompanied by parent or guardian. VIP Passes have already sold out. More ticket information can be found at 80/35's website.
