Just a few weeks after announcing they'd jettisoned the "1979" from their band name — and releasing new single "Freeze Me" to commemorate the change — the members of Death From Above have announced the impending release of their third studio album, Outrage! Is Now, as well as the upcoming start of an extensive tour.

Due out Sept. 8 and available to pre-order now, Outrage! Is Now takes its title from a sociopolitical climate that Death From Above members Sebastien Grainger and Jesse F. Keeler feel has grown more divisive and rancorous in recent years. As Grainger explains via press release, the band is trying to sum up the environment that produced the record without taking sides.

"There's an absolute chaos and confusion in the world, and people who would otherwise agree on most things seem to be disagreeing on everything," says Grainger. "There's a lot more space between the poles of opinion and views on the world. It seems like there's a barrier of disgust as we dehumanize one another based on a few slight differences of opinion. The title is an observation of this hyper-sensitivity, which we're all a part of."

News of Outrage! Is Now's release is accompanied by the arrival of the set's second single, "Never Swim Alone," the official video for which is streaming above. Like "Freeze Me," it offers fans an early glimpse of an album that found the band making a high-energy rush at its creative boundaries.

"I hope fans hear the progression," adds Keeler. "This record is very much the result of the environment and experiences of the last five years. If we didn't have struggle, life would be really f---ing boring. These songs are an anti-boredom manifesto."

Death From Above are scheduled to begin their next round of dates Sept. 15 at Riot Fest in Chicago, then pick back up a month later in Montreal for the start of a North American leg that will keep them on the road through at least Dec. 1, when they're set to wrap their tour with a stop in Toronto.
