Atlanta's finest neo-psych rockers Deerhunter have a new album coming out, and it's already blowing minds -- and that's just with the press release. The promotional letter, which arrived in our virtual mailbox earlier today, promises a May 7 release for 'Monomania,' Deerhunter's fifth album and the first since 2010's 'Halcyon Digest' -- at least we think that's what it says.

"Mystery disc of NOCTURNAL GARAGE. rat tapes / NEW FORMAT is avant garde(?) but only in context not form (original intent of avant garde (1912-59) / before logic: FOG MACHINE / LEATHER / NEON," reads the mysterious missive, which itself seems to be avant garde in both context and form.

It further reveals that the disc was recorded by frontman Braford Cox in Brooklyn, N.Y., in January and February of this year, with assistance from producer Nicolas Vernhes. If you figure out what exactly all that means, feel free to drop an explanation in the comments section below. Thanks!

Cox is credited with providing -- take a deep breath -- "vocals, rat tapes, fog machine, electric and acoustic guitars, treatments, percussion, melody bass on final track, microphone placement and typesetting." The five-piece outfit, which had a slight personnel change in January, is rounded out by guitarist/vocalist/synth player Lockett James Pundt IV, guitarist Frankie Broyles, bassist/organist Josh Mckay and drummer Moses Archuleta.
