Dirty Heads Tour Diary Episode 3: A ‘Scranton Surprise,’ A White Trash Fourth of July + More
[Editor’s Note: This summer, Dirty Heads float across the U.S. and Canada on a pungent cloud of reggae, hip-hop and rock, and as they and tourmates the Expendables make the rounds, the L.A. band will file weekly diary entries for Diffuser.fm. In this installment, which arrives with a series of rad photos, Jared “Dirty J” Watson big-ups Boston, dishes on the hidden coolness of Scranton and describes a Fourth of July bash powered by “apple pie moonshine.” What could be more American than that?]
Last week, we had just got off stage from another show at the House of Blues in Boston, which is undeniably one of my favorite places to play. I wanted to see what city was coming after, and I looked at our calendar and see Scranton, PA. Now, when I think of Scranton, the only cool thing I can think of is that ‘The Office‘ is based there, but I know there wont be any Dwight Schrute sightings. I wasn’t planning for anything spectacular to do before we go on, but I was hoping the shows gonna be good at least.
Well, let me tell you, not only was the show insane — we spent the whole day at water parks, on zip lines and hiking. It was really, really cool. We woke up to a beautiful venue in the middle of a forest and an invitation for free rides. Sold. It was a blast.
To top it, Duddy [Dustin Bushnell] and I snuck into the water park later that night after the show and creeped around through the tunnels of the empty rides. Sounds fun right!? It is fun and really creepy if you get stoned before.
After the Scranton surprise, we headed to Indiana for a Fourth of July white trash party our manager threw at his “out of Cali home.” I wish I could tell you more about it, but I really don’t remember much after the apple pie moonshine, flamingo beer bong and fire work battle. It looked like a blast from what I’ve seen in the pictures.
Heading back west and up to Canada next!
