No. 10: The Decemberists, ‘Don’t Carry It All’
Portland, Ore.’s very own indie folk rockers the Decemberists returned in 2011 with ‘The King is Dead.’ Dropping the conceptual nature of their previous release and getting back down to organic rock at it’s best, ‘Don’t Carry It All’ instructs the listener to “raise a glass to turnings of the season,” and that’s just what this song does: it ushers in a beautiful new season for the Decemberists.
