Last night underdog Democrat Doug Jones won a highly contested Senate election in Alabama against Republican Roy Moore, who has been accused of sexual abuse and child molestation. Jones has become the first Democrat to win a senate seat in the Southern state since 1992.

Delivering his acceptance speech Moore told an enthusiastic crowd, “We have shown the country the way that we can be unified. This entire race has been about dignity and respect. This campaign has been about the rule of law.”

Concert crowds and bands have been equally raucous about the win, and the list of musicians who have reacted online in the hours since is substantial.

LCD Soundsystem was playing the second of 10 shows at New York City's Brooklyn Steel last night when they learned of Jones' win. Following the main set, singer and keyboardist Nancy Whang returned to the stage for the encore, telling the crowd there was good news to dance to before "Dance Yrself Clean." She also declared "F--- you, Roy Moore," according to NME.

At the first of two shows Lyric Opera House in Chicago, Ill., the National asked "How's Roy doing?" between songs. The crowd later interrupted the band, alternately shouting "Doug Jones won!" and "Roy Moore lost!" but frontman Matt Berninger warned the crowd not to get ahead of themselves with projections. Later returning for the encore, Berninger, who also had some choice words for Moore and other Republicans, lifted his arms out in amazement saying, "You mean America is not lost?"
