Consider this a warning shot. DZ Deathrays have yet to finish their sophomore album, the follow-up to last year's 'Bloodstreams,' but the the Aussie duo has fired off a powerful preview in the form of lead single 'Northern Lights,' which debuted earlier today at Spin. Give it a listen below.

Filled with canyon-shaking guitars and woah-woah background vocals and outfitted with a title and chorus worthy of Big Country or early U2, 'Northern Lights' is wide-screen alt-rock of the highest order. Shane Parsons and Simon Ridley cut the rousing tune with Andy Savours, who production credits include Sigur Rós and My Bloody Valentine, so expect more mega-big rocking when the new record drops sometime in 2014.
