Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros Reveal Fall 2012 Tour Dates

Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros will be quite the busy bees this fall, as they announced dates for a 2012 North American tour. The road trip will last throughout the month of September and early October.

Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros will start things off on September 7 at the Greek Theatre in Berkeley, Calif. The band will hit cities like Portland, Oregon; Vancouver, Canada; Royal Oak, Mich.; Orlando, Fla. and end in Kansas City, Mo. on October 5. Brooklyn, N.Y. indie rockers Clap Your Hands Say Yeah will provide support on the majority of the tour. Fan presale tickets will be available starting this Friday (June 15) at 10AM. As The Audio Perv points out, Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros are touring in continued support of their second studio album, 'Here' which was released last month. The disc debuted at No. 5 on the Billboard 200 chart, selling 35,000 copies in its first week. That makes it the band's most successful release to date, as their previous record, 2009's 'Up From Below,' peaked at No. 76.

“The only thing I’d say is that the first album felt like it was reaching toward somewhere, and ['Here'] feels like it’s speaking from somewhere,” singer Alex Ebert recently said. “So it’s a little less giddy and a little less desperate and reaching and a bit more meditative and reflective. But otherwise I’d say it’s a continuation of the path we’ve been on in a quite linear way. At least for me, because I’ve been in it. For others it might be a little jarring.”
