Emily Jane White Drops Dramatic Single ‘Keeley’

Sara Sanger

Between January 2011 and October of the following year, Emily Jane White composed sketches for more than 100 songs. The California indie-folk songstress then decamped to a secluded Sonoma County studio, where she worked without distraction on what would become her fourth album, ‘Blood / Lines,’ due out Nov. 19 on Important Records. Earlier today, Stereogum premiered ‘Keeley,’ the forthcoming disc’s excellent second single — check it out below.

With its synths and strings and overarching melodramatic feel, ‘Keeley’ hits like the choicest of Zola Jesus cuts, or maybe a Kim Carnes/Bonnie Tyler ’80s smash reimagined as smoldering goth-pop. Either way, it’s great — click here for more info.
