Arkansas-based alternative outfit Knox Hamilton isn't just one guy, but their name comes from a very real person – one they've never met. It happened one summer when brothers Boots Copeland (vocals) and Cobo Copeland (drums) spent their high school break volunteering at a Little Rock thrift shop. Although the pair had been refining their sound since they first began playing music at their dad's church in Texas when they were 5 and 6, they didn't arrive at the name until they stumbled across a high school yearbook from 1972. "In it was a picture of one of the most rock 'n' roll dudes I have ever seen," Boots told us. "We were searching for what to call ourselves and it was a no-brainer."

Teaming up with bassist Drew Buffington, Copeland said they began primarily as a gospel band before refining their sound into a blend of indie, dance and anthemic rock. They've since gone on to play stages at Bonnaroo, Firefly and Hangout Music Fest and they made an appearance at last year's CMJ Music Marathon. Their single, "Work it Out," has garnered more than three million streams and their fan base has been growing exponentially.

A few weeks ago, Knox Hamilton revealed they would release their debut EP, How's Your Mind. The four-song EP produced by Tim Pagnotta (Neon Trees, Walk the Moon) includes "Work it Out" and drops tomorrow (Sept. 18). Diffuser is proud to premiere the title track from the EP. Check it out along with the band's upcoming tour dates (many with Civil Twilight) below. Download the EP here.
