Recently celebrating their one-year anniversary as a band, Denver’s Redlands are thrilled to announce their sophomore EP, Adventurer. Frontman Ben Lohle spent three weeks in Arizona recording and co-writing the disc with Sean and Alex Silverman of This Century, and it will hit the streets on July 14.

Today (April 6), Diffuser is excited -- and honored -- to premiere the EP’s title track. You can stream it in the audio player below.

“I want to personally dedicate this song to my best friend, Chase Martinez, who plays bass in Redlands, and his wife Brenna Martinez, whom he lost in a motorcycle accident on March 28 this year,” Lohle tells us. “Our love and prayers go out to them and their families ... this song is about dropping the world about you and just hitting the road.”

Lohle shared several thoughts surrounding "Adventurer" -- not just how it applies to the heartbreaking loss Martinez experienced, but how it can relate to all listeners. Read his full letter below:

I want to personally dedicate this song to my best friend, Chase Martinez, who plays bass in Redlands, and his wife, Brenna Martinez, whom he lost in a motorcycle accident on March 28 this year. She was the sweetest, most selfless person I have ever met. She was a beautiful soul and I, as well as many other people, will never forget what an impact you have had on our lives. Our love and prayers go out to them and their families. All the good love and vibes in the world. We love you and will see you again someday. Ride on!

This song is about dropping the world around you and just hitting the road.

I was in a very weird state of mind when we came back from what we had planned ourselves last year. I was spending a lot of time alone and by myself in my parents’ basement, so I kind of realized that to put the next foot forward required releasing a follow-up album ... and soon.

I had been talking with Sean Silverman [This Century] about working on a collaboration and we finally made it happen. This song is about letting go of all your fears and just escaping. It’s about putting everything you believe in on the line and just running wild into the unknown.

This song is about making a plan, mapping out your ride and just going for it. Life is crazy. We can’t plan for the unexpected so we have to live for the moment. Life is an adventure and you never know unless you take it there. Let this song bring all the love and vibes to everybody this year.

Do something you’ve always wanted to do. We love you.

Redlands

Lohle has committed his life to Redlands, from dropping out of college to walking away from several jobs. “I don’t regret a damn thing,” he says. With music his sole focus, expect Lohle and Redlands to hit the road in support of Adventurer this year; you can stay up-to-date with everything going on in their world at their official website.

Diffuser would like to offer our deepest sympathies to Martinez, his family and the members of Redlands. Thank you for allowing us to be a small part of this tribute.
