Last night’s (April 2) episode of Late Show With David Letterman was an unforgettable one if only for one reason: Fat White Family.

The South London rockers -- we're not sure what sort of qualifier deserves to be in front of "rockers"; indie, punk, raw, bizarre, et al. -- tore through a blistering performance of "Is It Raining in Your Mouth" from their 2013 debut full-length, Champagne Holocaust. Check it out in the video above.

Setting the stage for what was to come, Letterman seemed just a little timid introducing the band and their album, both the title and the censored cover (is that a pig balancing a beer on his head holding a blood-drenched sickle and hammer ... with his manhood hanging out?).

Any apprehension felt by the late-night TV host or unsuspecting audience was quickly dismissed, though. As the guitars kicked in and frontman Lias Saoudi popped two cherries in his hands -- perhaps a nod to the band making their network television debut with this performance -- Fat White Family held viewers in the palms of their hands for the entire gig.

Fat White Family have a handful of stateside concerts scheduled, including a stop by Brooklyn’s Music Hall of Williamsburg and West Hollywood’s Troubadour. You can find their current tour itinerary here.

If their Letterman performance didn't turn you into instant lifelong fans like it did us, give the album a chance; its grit and imperfections make it one of the most authentic things we've heard in a long time, leaving us to wonder how we've survived the past two years without this at the top of our stacks. You can stream it below and pick up the digital, CD and vinyl editions at this location.
