Father of Brothers Jon, Tim and Andrew Farriss of INXS Has Died

Dennis Farriss, the father of brothers Jon, Tim and Andrew, has passed away. The brothers were all members of INXS -- drummer Jon made the announcement via Twitter. "It is with a heavy heart that I announce the passing of my father, Dennis Farriss. On behalf of my family we appreciate your love & support."

John, along with Andrew on keyboards and Tim on guitars, were the core of INXS, one of the most successful bands to emerge from the Australian music scene of the late '70s and early '80s. It was their father and mother who got them started on that path to making music. “They were always behind us. They just let us play all the time," recalled Jon Farriss in the INXS bio 'Story To Story.' "I'm sure it was just an awful racket." Their mother Jill died of cancer in 1995.

After 35 years together, INXS broke up in 2012. They were, however, the subject of a television mini-series earlier this year in the homeland. 'INXS: Never Tear Us Apart' featured actors playing the roles of the band members; the series chronicled the early days of the band. The show was a hit, leading to talk of a Broadway musical and feature film.
